MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is supporting Vice President Jejomar Binay's request to have an official residence, saying it was just reasonable.
“If that is his request. But if he believes that there's such a need, I'll support that move,” Aquino told a press conference in Malacañang on Wednesday.
“My position is the only thing that has come from his office or the things that have come from him or his office have been I think is just right,” he said. “So why not support it?”
Binay has publicly aired his preference to live at the Coconut Palace in Pasay City and the President admitted that the vice-president conveyed this to him.
“Yes, he suggested that. But there's a question of whether or not the government, meaning the national government, still owns the Coconut Palace,” he said.
Before this, Aquino said Binay was proposing an alternative venue for the vice president’s office, instead of the offices that he has now at the PNB building also in Pasay City
Aquino noted, however, that the budget for the office of the Vice President was small compared to the budget that he had when Binay was still the Makati City mayor. ( By Maila Ager, Inquirer.net) Courtesy of Philippine Daily Inquirer
