CDM Lambigit announces Centrist Democratic Forum with Keynote Speaker Chief Justice Renato S. Puno (Ret.)

 

Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, May 3, 2011. The Centrist Democratic Movement (CDM)  Lambigit in Northern Mindanao in collaboration with the Centrist Democracy Political Institute (CDPI) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Philippines shall hold a thematic forum entitled “Centrist Democratic Forum on Decentralization and Political Reform among Local Leaders in Northern Mindanao ”.

 

The keynote speaker, former Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno shall discuss the need to transcend our democratic mediocrity and decentralization as a means of political reform. Philip Camara, a renowned speaker on subsidiarity and Dr. Peter Köppinger will talk about the “Impact of Local Decentralization on the Economic Growth in Northern Mindanao” and “The Need for Political Party Reform”, respectively. A topic on “Current National Security Landscape of the Country and Peace in Mindanao” will be given by Gen. Jose T. Almonte(Ret.), former National Security Adviser. The occasion will also be graced by Mr. Lito Monico C. Lorenzana, President, Centrist Democracy Political Institute (CDPI), CDM Convener.

 

The event shall take place at Empress Court, Grand Caprice, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City on a Saturday, May 14, 2011, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

 

This gathering is expected to generate awareness among local leaders in Northern Mindanao about the Centrist Democratic Movement(CDM) Lambigit which mission is to promote its core value on human dignity in the field of the academe, public service, business and non-government organizations.

 

For several years, majority of settlers in Northern Mindanao have been desirous for authentic empowerment and chance of participation to nation-building and this gathering of local leaders in the region is expected to create among themselves the impending necessity of their participation and in making their strategic position in their respective localities or posts as a means of promotion.

The speakers, expert in their fields are known supporters of the organization’s advocacy are expected to stimulate the participants’ interest and enthusiasm to take active part in nation-building.

 

Finally, the event is a move in reaching out more able leaders to become official members of CDM Lambigit in Northern Mindanao.

 

The invited participants to this forum are leaders holding key positions in the academe, business sector, non-government organizations and those who are holding positions in local government units, both elective and appointive, in Northern Mindanao region.

 

A registration fee in the amount of P500.00 each shall be collected for lunch and snacks, kits, and certificate of each participant. Those who can attend comprise the prospective participants and the existing official members of CDM Lambigit. Books will be given to those who register as members.

About the CDM Lambigit

 

The Centrist Democratic Movement (CDM) Lambigit is one of Regional Assemblies of CDM Federation of the Philippines. It aims to promote human dignity as a core value and adheres to the principles of social market economy and subsidiarity. Being a young movement, it is supported by conveners, Mr. Lito Monico C. Lorenzana, President of Centrist Democracy Political Institute (CDPI) and Dr. Peter Koeppinger, Resident Representative of Kondrad-Adenauer-Stiftung(KAS).  Its current members are young professionals keen in making contributions to nation-building. It envisions gaining support and membership from various sectors in society.

 

Lambigit is a local language understood by majority of settlers in Northern Mindanao which means with a root word “engage” “participate” and “active”. The word has no exact English translation but a deep meaning of active participation, unity and camaraderie.

 

Basic Orientation Seminars (BOS) are conducted nation-wide in eight (8) Regional Assemblies and conducted in Northern Mindanao at district levels.
